The Gloucester Road Ale House is an ale and craft beer pub with, as our name suggests, the added attraction of an enticing and diverse food offer. The atmosphere is relaxed with vintage silent films by day and candle lit tables with tasteful bac
We offer real choice across our range of ales, ciders and lagers with changes on a regular basis. Alongside local Wickwar Wessex Brewery’s popular and award winning ales, such as BOB, Falling Star and Cotswold Way, there are several rotating guest ales. For the cider fans, there is Mortimer’s Orchard, Cloudy Apple, Thatcher’s Gold and traditional guest offerings. We also have fantastic Gin & Cocktail menus garnished and built using fresh, locally sourced fruits which evolve reflecting the seasons & craft spirit development.
Food is important to us and we source from award winning local suppliers such as The Bread Store & T Murray’s butcher both located on The Gloucester Road. We demand fresh, local, seasonal produce where available and whilst our menu changes daily to reflect this you will generally find classics such as Sausage & Champ, handmade burgers and colourful salads. We also have an Express Lunch menu and exquisite contemporary light bites and tapas sharers. Make sure you keep Sunday's free to sample one of the best roasts in Bristol. Children are welcome too, with a special selection of meals available.
On Tuesday’s we run our Ale Sale with all cask Ales at £2.50, Wednesday evenings we showcase the best of Bristol’s Acoustic music talent and on Thursday’s our crafted cocktails are 2 for 1.
Free Wi-Fi and complementary wireless printing service is available and although we are far from a sports pub we do show BT and terrestrial sports in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
As we have bars on both floors we are able to host any special events on a private hire basis and would love to welcome your party. We can cater for all events and budgets and will be happy to discuss your requirements which we are confident we can exceed. Whether it’s a leaving do, birthday or anniversary party or a mother and toddler coffee morning, please pop in for a chat.

Had an awesome roast here! Really good for the price as well, the brisket just fell apart and there was lots of it too, everything was cooked well and tasted great. The guys behind the bar had a great attitude, made me feel really welcome and I'm looking forward to going back again 👍👍
Scrumptious food, the chef is very talented, wonderful use of flavours and seasoning. The sticky toffee pudding, honeycomb ice cream and toffee sauce are out of this world. The chunky chips are very addictive, very tasty every time.Excellent customer service, the staff really go above and beyond to ensure an excellent dining experience. Really very helpful.
We enjoyed a wonderful three course Christmas meal here. The food was brilliant and the service excellent. It made our Christmas. A big thank you to the chef and staff. We'd highly recommend it and will definitely come again!
Very good, quick service in a lovely pub. The best food I've had in a long time. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the ribs are the best I remember ever eating anywhere.
Absolutely delicious food and lovely atmosphere! Easy to veganise! The falafel and hummus was fantastic and the triple cooked chips were great. My friends had the Cajun burger and they loved it
