Visited the Swan for a business dinner. The food was reasonably priced and everything was tasty, especially the chips! Would definitely visit again when next in the area.
Dropped in to get some lunch with my wife and daughter. Found a table that wasn't reserved, and went to the bar to get some drinks and a kids menu. After paying for the drinks, I was informed that they weren't serving food to drop ins, as they had a big Christmas party due in, and they needed all the ovens. I would have been more understanding if it wasn't for the rude way this information was given to me. I mentioned I wished this was explained to me before buying the drinks, where the lady at the bar snapped back It was me who should of asked them first, and seemed to have a big chip on her shoulder. We visit frequently as we do like the food and usually get very good customer service, but this experience had put me off visiting any time soon.
Excellent location, just off M5, near the M4/5 junction and close to Aztec Business park. Room was comfortable enough, although the pillows had seen better days. Just be aware that they don't serve breakfast, which is not made clear, that I can see, on their website. To me this is a deal-breaker. On-site breakfast, even if it's a bag outside your door is pretty much a must for a hotel.
Absolutely shocking roast dinner yesterday. We were in a group of 11 so had to provide a pre order. When we had all arrived a chap came over & asked if everybody was here so they could start preparing our food. About 15 minutes later it started to arrive at the table. It was all stone cold. You could see the gravy had congealed on the plate around the food. The plates were also cold. Which probably didn’t help matters. We sent it all back. It came back out marginally warm. The “home cooked” gammon resembled to slices of thin ham from a packet. The cauliflower cheese was hard & didn’t taste of cheese! Nothing was seasoned and all of the items on the plate tasted the same (bland). Very disappointing. Had better lunches at local carvery venues. For a Sunday there was hardly anyone there. Should have took this as a sign on arrival & headed back out the door. There seemed to be only 1 waitress taking food out & serving at the bar. Felt very sorry for her running back and forward. Needless to say none of us will be returning.
