Wow and wow if you have a big appetite for a traditional cooked Sunday lunch this is definitely the place to go,I kid you not this has to be the biggest Sunday roast in Somerset, we arrived early for our 1.30 booking in order to have a drink beforehand, I had a san Miguel which was perfect a really nice pint. Once we arrived there was a small que a gentleman jumped behind the bar instantly and assisted the landlord, we sat down ordered the beef and the pork roast with all the trimmings, it arrived in good time with excellent service, so apart from the fact the dinner is massive how about quality, good portion of meat cooked nice, beef was a bit chewy pork was good not dry,the veg carrots cut too thin and over cooked could do with being thicker or batons, lots of cauliflour cheese however it did lack the cheesiness seemed like straight out of a packet sauce but not too bad, parsnip was nice roast spuds were a bit small, lots of mashed potatoes, gravy was OK could do with a bit more flavour, overall the two lunches were worth a visit and we would definitely go back.

Just had a couple of beers and a pool match here but the restaurant bit looks good and the landlord is new so worth a try for eating. Nice locals friendly and chatty as was the landlord serving. Fair sized car park out back too.

We are visitors to the area but please note that this pub is not serving food until next Wednesday 02/08/23. We turned up hoping to eat here but was told the kitchen was closed. New owners were very polite.

06/2022 - I should come here more often than I do. The beer is always in prime condition, the staff affable and the food beyond reproach. On this particular Sunday, I stopped for the Sunday roast. The lamb was a trifle more done than I prefer, but I was late in the day. However, the presentation was superb- they do things a 'little differently' at the Butchers Arms. Over the years since living in the area (since 1991) I've only stopped by at this tavern on occasion, noticing as I did so each time, a change of management. Other than by a few local die hards, it didn't seem all that popular. A recent visit specifically to scan the certificate of the Cask Marque Ale Trail. The establishments who qualify for this accreditation, are amongst the top 18,000 of some 50,000 who can guarantee a perfect pint - most, if not every time. Again I noticed another change of management and there's more enterprise in this new team. New outs tables front and back, an outside bar to the rear a bit more spic and span and it's far more patronised now than on any of my other visits The beer is still deserving the Certificate and the menu has extrapolated with a quantum leap and there's quite a few novel dishes. Sunday Roast is a very popular, a reservation affair, if you want to be assured of a table. This tavern, on my way home (the pretty way) has become a regular repeat visit.
