About us

Six hand pulled local real ales and ciders, plus a great range of lagers, wines and spirits make it a place worth finding, but it's the staff and the customers that are the real stars. Despite only being 20 years old The Pig feels like a proper pub, all are welcome, as long as you know how to behave. We work hard at generating an atmosphere that does not attract trouble.

Young and old are treated with respect and welcome to join the large and loyal regular trade, it is a source of great pride that we don't have to have regular door security. The Pig is not a quiet pub by any means, in fact at the weekends it can be a bit of a squeeze, but it is generally a good natured, happy place to be and we intend to keep it that way.

Apart from the fabulous heated garden with over 20 large tables the Pig is famous for its Tuesday night live music sessions with Nicole Fermie live rugby and football games on Sky Sports throughout the year. Many will remember watching Bath win the European Cup against Brive or more recently Liverpool and Manchester United winning Champions League finals. Sport at The Pig is an event in itself. Sporting memorabilia can be found all over the walls; team shirts, competition skis, and even an oar from our Olympic rowing eight can be seen alongside the murals, flags, comic book tables and comfy leather sofas.

Really glad we chose this spot for our evening meal! The pie and the steak were both cooked brilliantly. My other half also loves cinnamon, so imagine our surprise to find cinnamon ice cream on the menu; an instant hit! Would absolutely recommend.

Called in here for a Sunday lunch while visiting Bath. The staff were nice but the service was very slow. I waited over 25 minutes for my starter of beer battered anchovies, which were tasty and a bit different, but absolutely swimming in oil out the fryer - they would have benefited from being properly drained on a j cloth. The roast itself was a generous portion, I had porchetta which was succulent, with crisp crackling and a wonderful homemade apple sauce. The roast potatoes were a bit of a letdown, quite soggy and infirm. They would have benefited from a quick, refreshing dunk in the deep fryer to crisp them up. The Yorkshire puddings were also flat as a pancake. The greens and mashed carrots/turnip was nice. After the meal, we were sat with empty plates for another 20 minutes before they cleared the table - it wasn’t particularly busy and they had lots of staff on. It was £20 each for the roast, which wasn’t too bad for the amount of food but I don’t think I’d be in a hurry to go back. There was also a lot of dust on the mirrors and soft furnishings, giving the impression the place could use a much needed deep clean. There was pretty much no vibe to the place, with the feeling it was a chain pub similar to a weatherspoons. The staff were all very friendly and polite, and were able to recommend some of the beers from their brewery. I think with a couple of tweaks it could be a lovely neighbourhood boozer, sadly it was decidedly average.

Perfect location for exploring Bath. About 5 minutes walking to the Roman Baths and a great atmosphere. Cute rooms that have been updated with the only drawback being that our air conditioning unit did not work. Not a big deal as we were able to cool the room down by opening the window. It worked for us in early October but definitely something that needs to get fixed for summer.

Wow. This place was very nice. Roast dinner was delicious, the burger was great, the child's ham, egg and chips was very nice and the portions were just right. A bit pricey but you pay for what you get. The staff were very friendly and served with a smile and the atmosphere was brilliant. I would definitely go again next time I'm in Bath. 5/5

Great food, nice ambiance. We had the fish and chips, and the roast chicken. Nice thick battered fillet, and the chicken was really tasty.
