Been wanting to try the artichoke for lunch for ages, went today.....perhaps not the best of days....apparently a member of staff was a no show which meant the one lady behind the bar was a running all over the place and we waited for 45 minutes for a baguette and chips. The baguette was actually a soft sub roll, which was OK but not a baguette. Half of the fish fingers were mostly batter. Chips were good, so were the onion rings. A heads up to the wait for food would have been good. On the whole...OK....Will try again I think, but not yet.

What a wonderful place ! Very typical, very english. Food was delicious. Please try the mussels ! They even cooked some food for children that was not in the menu. Definitely a 5 stars ! Thank you for the warm welcome and history information of the pub.

Beautiful traditional country / small village pub and restaurant, set in the lovely Chartham near to Canterbury in Kent. Friendly staff, very good high quality home made gourmet food. I had the Homemade Cajun Chicken Burger platte! And what beautiful presentation, honestly it was delicious!! Would definitely go back, again and again!!

A proper pub. Nice staff, friendly locals and good food and drink. I chose a Bacon, lettuce and tomato baguette and a side order of chips from their lunch menu washed down with a nice cold pint of Five Grain lager. The food was brought out promptly, was well presented and most importantly was very tasty. The pub had a nice relaxed atmosphere with some good music playing in the background. There is also a beer garden behind the property which we didn't use on this occasion, but have in the past. The pub is also used by many walkers and also cyclists who stop off there after a walk or cycle along the nearby river which is very picturesque and peaceful. Highly recommended.
