Wonderful welcome, great food for good value. Some of the friendliest people ever and a cracking fish and chips. And dog-friendly!
What a fantastic welcome we had here from jack and cath, we booked a cottage for a week which was just around the corner from The Angel inn. On the second evening of our holiday we decided to pop in and try the food. We were not disappointed i had the tastiest home made chicken and leek pie i could have wished for it was sooo delicious, not very big portions but that left extra room for desert and wow was it one fabulous desert, cath talked me into her salted caramel brownie, i wasnt fussed because im not a fan of salted caramel But the way cath talked about it made me decide to try it oh wow, goey, chocolaty heaven. My mum had the same main but jam sponge and custard and my husband had chilli half and half and bread and butter pudding they both really enjoyed too... But obvs not as much as me tho becoz i definitely had the best desert ever ππ. I saw cath a few days later in a local shop and i said to her i think i shall give you a challenge bcoz yr such a fab cook i know you can do it, before we go home on sunday can you make an orange tiramisu for me. My mum had become unwell so was not up to going to the pub and sitting in so I ordered a take out instead. Cath i did phone you to congratulate you on your delicious triumph but you had finished for the night... I hope jack told you that i said the tiramisu was absolutely delicious and to congratulate you. I've told everybody who will listen about your desserts π₯°. We are going to have to make the journey up there just to sample more of your fantastic cooking π π€π. Hope you are both doing well, and not working too hard xx
Fantastic place, and serves good food! Welcoming atmosphere and owners/staff. Our second time visiting with friends, and eaten both times. Will definitely be back.
Three of us went for Sunday lunch and all agreed the food and atmosphere was amazing and that it was the most enjoyable Sunday lunch we can remember. The food was fresh and homemade including the Yorkshire puddings and deserts. Not a hint of frozen or microwave rubbish - simply proper good old-fashioned food and decent portions. Rare to find a decent pub these days so please donβt change anything! Excellent value for money too. I particularly recommend the homemade bread and butter pudding. The owners are fabulous (Jack particularly entertaining!) Weβll be back regularly - no doubt. Thank you.
Called in today for our first Sunday lunch. Was really impressed with the service and the food. Really friendly and welcoming people We will definitely be going back for more. If you ring to book, give the owner time to answer, "He has sort legs"π
