The Angel is THE BEST pub in Alston. Great atmosphere, lovely friendly locals, staff and landlord are lovely and it's so reasonably priced. I love it here and I think if you're visiting the town you absolutely need to pay a visit to this pub! They have rooms above but it gets busy on the weekend so if you're alright for a few drinks and getting to know the locals it's absolutely worth it!

Amazing stay this week, Jodie is a great host and runs an amazing pub. Room was very clean, friendly locals and quite reasonable prices at the bar.

I stayed here at the weekend and had a very comfortable night's sleep above this traditional English pub. Clean and newly decorated room with large bed and TV, good value for money.

We stayed for one night on our C2C bike tour and had mixed experiences. The pub is great, cosy and a great atmosphere. Jody is very kind and offers good service. Bikes could be put inside. The room was clean and tidy, although the shower would be a point to look at, since there was not enough hot water for the both of us. And since it is early light in the summer morning, I would prefer curtains instead of blinds. Evening food and breakfast was okay, with a bit more attention it could have been great.

Room very clean and nice. Great value, just what we needed. Cosy and Friendly pub with a great selection of drinks including cocktails. I had at the gammon and I was stuffed. We will be back in the new year. 5*
