Old Coaching inn in the centre of town and next to the Samuel Smith Brewery, making it the brewery tap. Large wood-panelled interior with two huge log fires in winter
Rear door leads to courtyard, the Brewery and the stables for the grey dray shire horses which are used to deliver to local pubs. All cask beer is served from wooden casks. The pub is currently looking to employ a chef so food service should resume soon. No dogs are permitted here except guide and assistance dogs.
I wish all pubs were like this. Pub heaven. Even has shire horses in the yard.
Lovely pub serving a decent pint of Old Brewery Bitter but lady serving behind the bar needs to learn some manners! I'm well aware of the policy regarding the use of mobile phones in Samuel Smith pubs, but I'm sorry that my phone kept pinging and it was out of order the way you spoke to me and the other party you accused first!
Lovely old fashioned English pub. Good friendly staff, clean everywhere, saw Sam Smith's white shires decent outside space also. Good value on all drinks. It's the breweries pub so you can tour the brewery also. Couple if doors up is the little delicatessen which sells all local produce and home made cakes & pies - also Sam Smith's beers in cases!! Lovely place to visit is tadcaster
Historic pub serving good food and reasonable priced beer , largest and ciders. Clean and friendly place will go again.
I was surprised how cheap and tasty was a pint of ale. Very cosy and warm place for drink after work. Recommended!
