About us

Serving quality real ale is a craft in itself, and here at the Anchor Inn we’ve got it down to a fine art. We should have – after all, the pub’s been running for over 160 years!

We’re a stickler for standards and work meticulously to maintain our Cask Marque seal of approval and you’ll taste it in every last drop of refreshing goodness.

We stock a varied selection of real ale from Palmers Brewery in Bridport, an exciting wine list with a whole range of options alongside the well known premium brand spirits and some local favourites too.

We offer a bespoke cocktail list created by our resident mixologist David Smith who takes inspiration from old classics and reworking them to make them his own. A firm supporter of local distillers, he also uses what he finds in our hedgerows to blend his own in house infusions and syrups.

For that special occasion, we offer a section of fizz. Choose from Prosecco, Champagne Lallier, Bollinger or our favourite the Classic Cuveé from Furleigh Estate down the road in Salway Ash

Come, relax and have a refreshing beverage with us at The Anchor Inn!.

What an amazing place to stay. It’s the warmest welcome from the moment you walk up the steps. It’s cosy, a decor that allows you to be comfortable ( looks good, feels better ). Great atmosphere, dog walkers welcome, the food is high end and plentiful. My room felt like it was on the beach. Beautiful sounds to lull to sleep. Really be well appointed. ( you could move in ) the bathroom is luxury. I have not one criticism. First fossil hunt, check. Loved it here

We have been recommended The Anchor Inn by some friends and the place didn’t disappoint! Great menu with some delicious seafood options which are locally sourced, top-notch service and wonderful views. Will be returning soon.

Unfortunately the prices here just prevent me from participating. I feel although it's a lovely pub, they are using the location to up the prices somewhat. Up north, these prices are reserved for top resteraunts. Shame because I have enjoyed the food here in the past.

Me and a mate thought we’d pop in for a pint of Guinness during our long hike. We were greeted by a nice lady at the entrance who asked if we’d like to sit in the cliff garden. It sounded nice so we agreed. We paid around £13 for two pints and she then explained how to get to the beer garden and to wait there and our drinks will be brought out. A different lady then brought over our drinks and just plainly said we should have waited by the front door of the pub for our drinks. I then explained that another member of staff told us specifically to wait in the garden. She then just said that it was our fault as apparently the First Lady shouted back at us, to which neither of us heard a thing. The view was amazing and we were in great spirits until the mood was dampened by very poor customer service and clearly poor communication between colleagues. Especially considering we were the only people in the garden when we sat there. Can’t imagine how they would operate if it was actually busy.

Superb service, friendly, polite and professional staff. The location is a hidden gem. In the evening you’ll be witness to exquisite sunsets. We had two excellent meals whilst away camping. Good wine list and the seafood options are absolutely scrumptious. Will most certainly be back!
