Once we ordered our food and drinks via their app our drinks came very quickly then our food. We couldn’t believe how the service was very quick in a pub even if in a rush hour. The ambiance, food and everything was great! My fav in my local area💙
Amazing food. Full of flavours, perfectly cooked. The best roast dinner we’ve had in Wimbledon. Place is very busy but atmosphere is still very friendly and kind of relaxed. Service is amazing. We felt really well looked after. It was our third time to have the roast in this place and I’m sure we will be coming back.
Pork belly Sunday roast was delicious, but my pork belly had too much fat and less meat. There was little portion of vegetables, too. Staff are kind. I'd like to visit again.
Headed into The Alexander for a cozy pub experience and a roast dinner that I didn't have to cook myself. Young’s pubs have a reputation in London for being top-notch, and this one is impressively large, complete with a sports bar. This means it can get quite busy on football days, but the lively atmosphere is part of the charm. I decided to go for the chef’s roast to get a feel for the overall quality. Unfortunately, they were out of one of the meats, so I chose the slow-roasted lamb shoulder. It was presented well, and the server did a great job explaining the dish. However, I was a bit let down when I found a smaller piece of lamb than expected under the Yorkshire pudding, particularly for a £28 meal. The plate was cold, which didn’t help on a chilly day, causing the gravy and food to cool down too quickly. The lamb had hints of garlic and rosemary but was a bit dry in places. The carrot was cooked perfectly, though the cabbage and celeriac didn’t impress much. The roast potatoes were crisp but lacked flavor, overwhelmed by the oil. The Yorkshire pudding was good, but that's expected. Overall, it's a bit of a roasting, excuse the pun, but I've had better for less recently. Still, the pub’s overall atmosphere and setting are worth a visit. Enjoyed this review? Hit the like button and follow for more honest insights on local spots!
Welcoming, prompt bar service. Good atmosphere, pub packed inside and out on lovely Friday October evening. Glad we booked a table 🙂 Food great. DJ set up in section of pub where we were c.10pm, we departed shortly after purely due to trains (reduced sv) and using venue to catch up, chat 😉. Place appeals to all ages😊
