Not worth it. Completely obscured by surrounding vegetation, and not maintained. Also, difficult to get to. Approximately 1/2 mile through forest and up a steep incline. The start point/parking is at Gaza Road and Crescent. If you use the GPS you'll be on a residential cul-de-sac.
I was looking forward to see the kiwi. Unfortunately, it clearly requires some maintenance. It does not look white anymore.
A very unusual Kiwi chalk hill monument overlooking Bulford, with great views over the various shooting ranges. To see it up close and personal, it's a VERY steep walk up the hill from the village, so try to plan a different route if you are not completely mobile. Like all hillside chalk images, it's not much to look at close-up, but you do get to learn the intriguing local history and the reasons why it's actually there. However, if you travel north (by car) to the modest viewing point some miles away, you get to see the figure in its full glory!
Spend a lot of time MTBing around the Plain. Always good to see the Kiwi from far away and close up. History boards on site. Fantastic views on a clear day, with the Vale of Pewsey hills in the distance.
It's unusual! A huge bird on the side of a hill that's hard to find and has an interesting back story.
