About us

The Frog and Nightgown is a Freehouse located on Wimlands Road, Faygate.

A labour of love...

100 years ago, the pub was known as The Royal oak, serving bottled beers to the first ten people to come through the door, as this was all the small pub could accommodate. Formerly two cottages, Janet and Jim Reynolds purchased the building, extended the bar area and renamed the pub in 1990.

The pub was closed for three years after 2012, during which plans for development were rebutted, meanwhile a local couple announced they had purchased the lease and planned to re-open in 2015.

Had the most lovely time here today for afternoon tea with a friend. As soon as we were seated we were offered tea to start and the brilliant service continued. Staff were lovely too. The food was one of the best afternoon teas I've had. Properly filled and yummy sandwiches and all so freshly made! Also loved the quirkyness and frog theme throughout! Very impressed on my first visit and keen to go back! Thank you 🐸 and Nightgown!!

Great place. The pizzas are awesome and the service by the super friendly staff is excellent. They let themselves down however by a very limited choice of beers. There are so many awesome breweries nearby, Firebird, Brolly, Dorking etc etc. Why is it they only have Surrey Hills Brewery Ranmore on. Not a bad beer, but not as good as the beers from nearby Firebird and Brolly. Most of the nearby breweries supply beers in both Keg and Cask.

UPDATE- Visited for lunch today and sat with a view of the fields. This place has so much potential. £10.50 for a jacket spud with tuna! WOW this is the most expensive jacket I've had! Called up to check what menu they were serving as there is tea room menu and pizza menu to be told its the tea room menu and that this changes daily. Come on management, this needs sorting out. All in all had a pleasant lunch. Visited here today for lunch. It is a charming old country pub with no frills. The garden is large with benches and unbrellas. Take a menu grab a table and order at the bar. Inside is very small but cute and it's a tea room and pub. We had a panini which was £8.10 with a small garnish and few crisps. Not cheap by all means but very nice. Service was friendly and super quick.

The food is truly part of Italy. Together with friends we were happy to enjoy to eat well and then the originality of the products was exceptional, really fresh. We always come back because we like it. I have to thank Rudy and Edina as they always treat us well.
