The only thing that let's it down is the lack of atmosphere. Very quiet for a Saturday night and I have no idea why as the food is far better than I've had in quite a few similar establishments. The food was excellent and the landlord was attentive without being overbearing and it was the same with the table service. It's very nice inside and the toilets were spotlessly clean which is always nice to see. Overall a very nicely place with excellent food and well worth a visit. My only suggestion would be for a little background music when it's a quieter evening such as last. 😊

I wish I could pick The Highwayman up and move it back home with us! The atmosphere was so warm and relaxing, and the service was absolutely perfect with a very welcoming man behind the bar, and a lovely waitress who made sure we had everything we needed with our meal. The food was exceptional, exactly what we needed after a 3 1/2 hour car journey. I could not fault anything about our meal at The Highwayman and I would like to thank the team there for making it such an enjoyable evening for us!

1st time tonight, and certainly won't be the last. Total dining experience above any expectations. Great friendly host , excellent food , fantastic ambience and lovely little gestures. It was mentioned it was my birthday as a passing comment and when we ordered desserts , mine came with a lit candle and happy birthday piped in chocolate on plate aswell as singing me happy birthday. See you again soon

We had a delicious Sunday roast here, sepcial mention to the nut roast which is one of the most delicious veggie options I have had. Slightly let down by the service, there were a few tables in the bar whose reservations had not been properly booked in so there was a fairly long wait for the food and had to pop to the bar to get another drink, but we were not in a rush so we didn't mind much. All the staff were really friendly and welcoming. It seemed like a place which attracts regulars back time and time again and fostered a social atmosphere.
