Oh happy days when I use to go in the stag I was always in the pub in the week and every Saturday and Sunday. The landlord/Manger was Jim I can't remember what his wife was called, he lost his son in a fatal car crash he took over a pub at handsworth just up from Woodhouse. I have had some brilliant times in the stag but I am going back a long time around the 1980s. There was no hand pulled ale in the pub non of this real ale, it was a fizz place that served ale from the electric pump the ice cold Guinness was superb especially on a hot day. There was always a great crowd in the stag at the weekends I haven't been in the stag for 35 years so I bet there as been changes in the pub and outside the pub.
This is a lovely pub, recently taken over by a great couple, Claire and Al. They're in the process of making this a right cosy and friendly place for one and all to visit. This is a must visit for people both close by, and for those passing through too. Thank you both so much for being such great hosts. Take care and catch you both next time x 😁

Due to different Landlords/Landlady) over the past few years the Stag has lost its good reputation. We went on a Saturday good music by a DJ but too loud for comfort. Very polite and friendly staff. Not too many people in 8pm to 9pm but think that's most pubs in Woodhouse. 6 people and 2 babies in the back and another table of 6. Shame , not the managers fault
A decent pub with a good range of beers. I've knocked a star off because the evening was marred by the lack of heating..and I don't mormally feel cold.
