Open fires, real ales and honest pub food.
The Black Bull lies cosily in the heart of Corbridge, a Northumberland village. In a traditional building which dates back to 1755, The Black Bull is brought to life by blooming flower baskets during the summer and the welcome glow of coal fires through the winter.
I am amazed I haven't reviewed this pub yet. It's a great place to bring a partner and or a group of people. The food is unreal, the options of drinks is great too. You can't go wrong calling in here.
We had lunch here on a busy Saturday just before Christmas and couldn’t have been more pleased by both the food and the service. We hadn’t booked but a table was found promptly. The menu was offered an excellent selection of traditional and interesting dishes as well as a good value for money set menu deal. We we not with mains and deserts from the set menu and thoroughly enjoyed everything. The service was prompt and friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant and my husband tells me that the real ale from the hand-pump was excellent. I’ve eaten there a handful of times now and have always had the same good food and service so I have no hesitation in recommending it as a very nice pub meal experience.
Service team really pleasant, and a great proper county pub atmosphere. Food however was bang average, with really poor portion sizes. I’ve personally never been somewhere where mushy peas have been served up on a shallow mini side plate. Come on folks, it’s meant to be hearty pub food. It’s not like I ordered caviar.
Had a fantastic experience with the Black Bull. Ordered the special entrées. I really enjoyed the apple glazed pork belly on cabbage and beetroot. So delicious. And my partner thoroughly enjoyed the sweet potato and goat cheese tart! We then both ordered the Sunday Roast (as we visited on a Sunday). Forgot to take photos of the roasts! But very tasty!
What a pleasant surprise! Food was amazing. Wine was good. Prices really good as well. The staff are just the right amount of attentive and wonderfully friendly. Thanks for a lovely afternoon!
