About us

Found in Bedale, a quiet market town with a weekly market on a Tuesday, we are in the middle of the Main Street, so all facilitates are literally on your doorstep. There are shops, pubs and restaurants to suit every taste. We are a great base for cycling, walking and sight seeing. The Tour de France passed through the area locally at Masham. For walkers Wensleydale, one of the loveliest Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away. Bedale is also home to a well respected golf club. All our bedrooms come with en-suite bathroom facilities, free WiFi internet, tea & coffee making facilities, TV with Freeview, free parking, fresh towels, ironing facilities available by request, hairdryer and late access to all rooms after 23:00 (late booking in charge of £10 after 11pm at hotel). Some of our rooms are ideal for families. Downstairs you will find a warm welcome in our traditional Yorkshire Market Town pub. We offer a great range of local Yorkshire real ales, including real ales brewed down the road at Masham. We also serve delicious home cooked food every single day of the week! Well behaved dogs welcome. Families very welcome, there is secure storage for cyclists, late night shops, local park, car boot on Saturday, parties and functions catered for. We are near Northallerton, Leyburn, Richmond, Ripon, Thirsk, Catterick but to name a few local towns.

The bar and seating area was accessible, quite cozy later in at night. But the whole pub stunk of cooking fat including the accommodation. We stayed a night in a room offered at £80 a night but it was not worth it at all. Accommodation is in serious need of renovation and a good cleaning. Due to the state of the accommodation we didn't feel that we could eat there. It's a real shame, it is a historic pub that could be so much more. I would not recommend this place one bit! I would not stay again. I do not understand how other people have put good reviews.
