About us

The Original Wayford bridge hotel was not actually on the site of current hotel, it was located the other side of the road and on the road to what is now Banks day boats.

Todays location has developed from a small pub in the 1930’s which you can see in the image above. over the years the pub expanded adding a party room and even an amusement arcade.

In the early 2000’s the owners of the hotel invested heavily and added the modern attractive frontage that you see from the Southern approach to the hotel which added rooms and a much larger dining room and terrace. The business flourished and was then sold to the Maypole group and subsequently to the celebrity chef Marco Pierre White.

Popped in for a quick breakfast, it was quiet, but it was a rainy Tuesday and I turned up at 10.30 on the off chance they were still serving breakfast, luckily they were. Was greeted and sat by a lady, very friendly. Nice, warm and cozy feel to the place, breakfast menu was simple but priced to reflect that, but it was only a cheap breakfast in price! The sausage was cracking, not a rubbish makro catering effort, bacon thick cut and not a rubbish little water filled rasher, beans were scorching hot, fried bread was spot on and the egg was runny! If I had a complaint it was purely down to my own taste that I'm not keen on filter coffee... But that's me, nothing wrong with the coffee, it's just not my favorite! That being said, I was offered a free refill, it was also hot and fresh. All in all pretty decent breakfast, it hit the spot without being super fancy and stupidly priced, will definitely be heading back again.

Rooms comfortable, warm and clean. Good place to go with a dog if you get a garden room as easy access to outdoors. Staff very pleasant and friendly.

All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was awesome. The twin beds beds were a bit on the small side and the pillows were past their prime. Otherwise we would be giving this hotel straight 5/5s.

Lovely stay at this hotel, spacious and clean room with own door which is great for dogs. Friendly and helpful staff and the lounge bar was cosy and comfortable. Great breakfast. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

I found the price good I relation to the room I booked, which was the garden room, it was big and spacious but there are a few small things they could do to improve the overall stay, like supplying hand towels and not just a bath sheet. A fridge in the room would be very handy as the rooms are big enough. We ate in the restaurant, service was a little slow and the seemed confused as to what was on offer from the menu. Breakfast was well cooked and tasty but again the staff need to tell guests how things run if your first visit, as there was no cereal, fruit and yogurt out for you to help yourself but it was on the menu. Tea and coffee pots would also be better to give to each table instead of having to ask for a coffee refil as the coffee cups were tea cups and very small. Over all the beds were comfy and the room was quite.
