First opened in late 2019, we have fast become a home from home for Leith locals, newcomers and visitors alike.
We are open from midday ’til late, 7 days a week, offering up a great selection of drinks and nibbles in comfortable, colourful, quirky surroundings, with warm, welcoming and attentive service.
Our wee Abode is a cafe by day, bar by night, and has a relaxed, friendly and bustling vibe. Our focus is on great, locally supplied products; our tap beers are supplied by two of Edinburgh’s best craft brewers – Barney’s Beer and Campervan Brewery. We have an exciting and unusual selection of over 20 wines by the glass, and our coffee is supplied by local roastery Machina Espresso. Whilst we don’t have a kitchen, we do have an array of delicious nibbles including cakes by local baker Kiwi Bakes, sourdough grilled cheese, and our famous cheese and charcuterie boards featuring ingredients from East Coast Cured and I.J. Mellis Cheesemonger.
With cosy corners inside and sunny tables outside, we are the perfect place to start, spend or end your day, all year round.

Lovely platter and good beers!
Due to bar staffs complete lack of enthusiasm for life, for a moment that lasted longer than I would have liked, I thought I had managed to travel back in time to communist-era Soviet Union, serving the brutal Stalin regime and living under the failed Marxist ideologies. Life was hard back then and life was tough for me, now, here, in this place. The melancholy atmosphere made me reminisce of all the good times I had at funerals past. Apparently 5 individuals standing at the bar was going to result in the entire clientele burning to the ground. Were in leith, not the Sun itslef. You would think the candle on the bar was created by oppenheimer. As I stepped foot outside into the world I took a deep breath of fresh air, heard the husstle and bussle of the city, saw kids play in the park, I realised life was good again, it was in fact, worth living for. The dark filter of life inside the bar had been lifted and now seemed like a distant nightmare that over time had been eased by the relentless ticking clock that is time. Abode has the cosiest bar and vibe, a great drinks menu with local options (which is always appreciated seeing how great Edinburgh's breweries are) and the loveliest team who knows to take care of you. It's my comfort place to go when I need a nice evening before going back home!
Nice cute cafe bar with good variety of drinks. We ordered a mimosa and a green tea. Service was also very nice. Would recommend it!
Absolutely fantastic! Such a warm greeting as soon as I walked through the door. Great wine list. The beers on draught as well as the bottled selection are all winners and the sharing boards hit the spot perfectly. The owners were so lovely that I will definitely be back!
