About us

At The Red Lion we have bought this tried and tested formula into the 21st century. Since our humble beginnings in 2011 we have transformed this previously neglected grand old building into the bustling hub of Leytonstone.

Our kitchen serves an ever-changing menu in keeping with seasonal produce and tastes. Our chefs use nothing but fresh seasonal ingredients. Don’t miss our Sunday feasts with a delectable selection of roast meats and equally delicious vegetarian fare, all dished up with Bloody Marys and board games. With the more formal dining area combined with casual bar seating and our rather impressive beer garden (apologies for the humility!) you’re spoilt for choice. We offer table service inside and have a separate lunch and dinner menu. Keep an eye out for our artisan bar snacks perfect to accompany a pint with.

Beer fans rejoice! With ten hand pumps, five guest keg lines and an innovative range of bottled beers, our ethos is simple; consistently high standards, taste and choice. Artisan wines and spirits make up our expansive core range alongside our own house selection, so you can choose your own delectable tipple. Cider lovers never fear; we have a great range of keg, box and bottled ciders. For a full list of beverages, please see our drinks menu.

At The Red Lion we recognise our place in the community, not just as a business but as a place to meet, eat and be merry. Our events allow us to bring people from the local area, and often further afield, together in an enjoyable and memorable atmosphere. From hosting some of the biggest names in hip hop, to throwing New Year’s parties of epic proportions, we’ve always got a surprise up our sleeve. No one’s ever excluded with events spanning the Leytonstone festival, our quirky Monday quiz night and our appreciative charity Christmas dinner for the areas’ older residents. Keep an eye on this page for all event happenings!.

Beautiful old pub with very tall ceiling, lots of different seating options. Small food menu but very tasty, we had the burgers and they were lovely.

We booked here as we have family living nearby and they highly recommended this hotel. Unfortunately the day before we are were due to arrive, my partner fell ill with covid. As it was so late, I fully expected the best case scenario to be offered a date change and worst case, having to pay the full room rate for the missed night. I phoned the hotel and the gentleman who answered could not have been more helpful or polite. He immediately cancelled the booking, said he would waive the fee and wished my partner a speedy recovery. We will definitely be staying and using the restaurant here in the future. Top notch customer. Service and given by a small company that could easily have been justified in not refunding given the short notice. Thank you!

Nice pub. Live music when we visited Sunday afternoon. Very good roast dinner. Great selection of vegetables. Generous adults and kids portions. Friendly staff.

We had been to the 'Luna Lounge'' but not enjoyed it, as we needed to catch up and it was too loud. We moved on to the 'Red Lion'. I loved the comfy sofas and the atmosphere was chilled but with a good vibe. It was a Saturday and sport was happening on a TV screen somewhere.

One of the better pubs the Leyton/Leytonstone area. Only been for Sunday Lunch but atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. Could have spent all day there. Had Beef roast, good meat (and generous) also the red cabbage was great. Spuds could have been more crisp and gravy could of had more power. Also had double cheese burger, cauliflower harrissa hummus, leek/cauliflower bake, pardon peppers, sausage roll. Sausage roll was the highlight. Everything else was good pub food but to take it to the next level could have done with everything being amped up a bit on the flavour. Very good prices on wine and local ales.
