About us

Following closure in 2020, The Boleyn Tavern has gone through an extensive period of restoration and renovation, reopening with new management in summer 2021. A huge amount of love and care has gone into bringing this beautiful and majestic building, that has stood on the corner of Green Street and Barking Road since 1900, back to something like its former impressive Victorian glory. Various skilled workers employing traditional methods have been sourced to reinstate Victorian cut glass, lay marble and tiled floors and recreate the wooden screens that divide up the 7 bars which include the Saloon Bar, Public Bars and the much sought after ‘Carriage Bar’ and ‘Ladies Bars’, serving a vast array of beers, wines and spirits. A theatre kitchen has been installed into the splendid old Billiard Hall, serving delicious classic British fare under a stunning stained glass canopy. The Boleyn Tavern conjures up the look of a grand Victorian Gin Palace and is truly a sight to behold.

Great pub, very well renovated. Beer choice is good. Food was OK, but service was lacking (server not really listening to us). Good atmosphere

Stumbled on this establishment after our time at the who store. And boy was I glad. Had one of the best salads ever. And the Boleyn lager was great too.

What a wonderful place! We were met with first class hospitality. Even given a guided tour of the pub and learned all about its history. The Victorian dukebox was really special and the Landlord even played it for us. Not normally a lager drinker I tried a pint of the Boleyn lager and it was absolutely delicious! Would definitely return and certainly recommend.

Beautiful heritage pub with a rich history. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Especially Katie, who advised us on the choice of beer and gave us a brief history lesson about the area. The pub itself was refurbished. It is clean. The Fish and chips were delicious, and the portion was huge! 5 Stars!

What a wonderful and interesting find!! It is almost palatial with a beautiful restaurant room with booths and a cosy traditional main pub with some private areas. Super beer selection. Good food. Good service. I should probably say a must for any West Ham United fan, I am not one of those.. but there are plenty of memories and treasure for any fan of the club.
