Back in 2002, Andre Blais had a dream – to bring the taste, the style, the soul of his beloved Kansas City barbecue to the UK! Years later, the Bodean’s family of restaurants goes from strength to strength
Today, the Bodean’s BBQ team are always out and about making sure that the slow-smoked BBQ, secret rubs and sauce recipes are up to scratch, and the BBQ obsession and attention as seen in KC are kept alive.
Saddest pork ribs eaten ever. Ribs were dry & rubbery. It was poorly cooked. Worst fries of my life. Poor fries shrunk because they were refried apparently else they never can look so terrible. Left coleslaw as well it was just not appealing enough to be tried. It was rip off for such expensive dish. Staff was very nice and courteous all across.
Maybe we picked the wrong night? Having to get up & ask for service every time you need something is okay if you're at a pub that serves counter meals. Food came relatively quickly and was delicious. Side portions are tiny though. I'm sure the bowls have got smaller. We weren't offered dessert. We weren't offered more drinks (we had to get up & go over to the bar to get our first & only round!) No one came to check on us and see if we had our entire order and if everything was okay. Distinct lack of management and/ or trained staff. Such a pity as we probably won't return when London has so many other choices.
Still just as good as how I remembered it years ago. Went here for a family meal on Friday afternoon and it was fantastic. We had the buffalo wings which were smoked to perfection. Kids had the kids menu which was a great serving size. For mains we went for the Pit Boss platter (2 ppl) and the serving size was perfect! The brisket, sausage and burnt ends were our fave bits. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and we felt well looked after. Lovely friendly vibe, we all had a great time. Very happy with the whole experience. Kids loved it too, thank you team!
I refuse to believe these bbq meats came out of a smoker! Our order: the pulled pork nachos, Mac & Cheese, fries, the Brisket & Baby back ribs combo plate and the Bodean’s platter. The only meats that were half decent were the spare ribs and the pulled pork (…and that’s me being kind). The Baby back ribs were as dry as sand and tasted old. The burnt ends weren’t anywhere near as impressive as they were a few years ago. We then ordered a Chocolate brownie and a couple of Key lime pies for dessert. The Key lime pies were basically a NY style cheesecake with some lime rind shavings on top…no lime flavour in the actual pie!! What the ?… the meal cost about £40/head and was a disappointment. Not impressed.
Reservations recommended but not necessary if you’re willing the wait. The restaurant was quite busy the evening we visited and my friend and I ended up sitting at a counter near the window - good for people watching. The server was very pleasant and patiently answered questions about the menu. I opted for the Baby back Ribs and Pulled Pork Combo served with fries and coleslaw. Both were tender and delicious though I preferred the pulled pork.
