We had come for Sunday lunch as we have many times before, we had been seated quickly and drinks and food orders were taken promptly. The food was excellent as always, and the table was keen to order desserts. However, when the main course was taken away and the question of desserts was asked, we asked to see the dessert menu. No problem, the waitress said she'd be back with the menus. It was after 20 minutes of watching waitresses wandering the floor with a pad in hand passing us by each time, we decided to flag one down. She apologised, claiming that they thought we hadn't asked for them (which is false, as the waitress said she'd be back with menus). After a further 15 minutes of waiting for our order to be taken (we were all going to have a dessert and coffee), we decided to leave instead. We (again) flagged somebody over to pay and we left. Perhaps it was busier than they are used to, but it's a real shame that the experience of great food and great atmosphere was soured by poor service.

What a brilliant restaurant this is. We arrived early on one of those warm nights and had time to sit outside ordering drinks within a wonderfully decked out patio. We found all of the staff here were so friendly and welcoming and we were looked after by Rosie who was wonderful, bringing out our drinks and the menu allowing us to relax and check out the great selection of food on offer. We totally enjoyed our meal set inside the restaurant within a cosy atmosphere. At the end of the night we passed on our compliments to the chef, who clearly has pride in their work and full credit to Rosie for looking after us so well. We agreed that we just had to make sure that we gave the Crab and Cow and their team a review that was so rightly deserved. Rest assured we will be back, very soon. Andy & Wendy.
Visited for a birthday meal in a group of 8. Food was excellent. Nicely cooked, beautiful presentation. Not the cheapest but ok for good food and a special occasion. Service attentive and knowledgeable. It would be good to have an idea who ordered what when serving as I felt we were being asked every few minutes who had ordered which drinks / dishes disrupting the atmosphere. However the main waitress had really good knowledge and answered everything well and with a good sense of humour. Overall a nice experience - thank you! Would return.
Extremely good food and friendly staff. We have visited several times with family and we love their steak night on Wednesdays and Thursdays (excellent chateaubriand and a free beer/house wine each). Our most recent visit was the two of us, and we enjoyed starters and mains. The crab crumpet is a main fixture on the menu, though is regularly updated to reflect seasonality, and this time was served with crispy leeks. My partner enjoyed the burrata which was well hidden under a pile of Serrano ham, rocket and pesto. For mains I had a fillet of fish in a broth with hassleback potatoes, and my partner enjoyed the fillet steak served with a mix of delicious mushrooms, and chips. I also enjoyed an excellent Spanish Albariño white wine which paired very well with the fish.
