About us

One of the country’s best-loved comedians, Norman Wisdom was born into an impoverished family and, at an early age, was sent to live in Deal. Aged 14, he took a succession of jobs in London, later becoming one of the highest-paid British stars of his day. This pub, named after him, was previously the job centre. However, it was long-known for teas and hot dinners, having been Dobson’s, later Little’s, Café and Restaurant.

Went to weatherspoons yesterday evening. I ordered a fried buttermilk chicken burger with chips. Not even half way through my burger I noticed it was completely raw in the middle. And now today I’m completely ill. They need to make sure their food is actually cooked before they serve it to people. I do not recommend.

We went to the Sir Norman Wisdom Weatherspoons restaurant for a meal out while staying down in the area for our daughter to attend an open day at Kent University, It is large inside with plenty of tables to sit and eat at, It was very busy on our visit on Friday evening, The food we ordered was very tasty and filled us up nicely. You can order your food from the table by the Weatherspoons app (which you download to your device), Also you can order your drinks too, (which we found on the Weatherspoons app and not on the menu, The entrance is wheelchair accessible and inside, they have a wheelchair lift as this restaurant is on 2 levels, (not floors), didn't use the toilets when we were there so can't comment on them, Would definitely eat here again if/when we are in the area again, Definitely recommend to try it out,

I literally just stopped to have a quick cold drink and use their toilet. It was a baking hot day so I bought a Thatchers Orange Cider and ice. It was absolutely perfect! Decent price too. The toilets were clean. The staff were friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant. Zero complaints!

Spoons does what Spoons does. Fast service, good prices. On a rainy day a magnet for families so expect noise and mild chaos at times.

I saw a documentary on Norman Wisdom on TV which revealed Norman grew up in Deal.. I saw on Google there is a restaurant which is named in tribute to Sir Norman Wisdom. I surprised my wife with a visit to have a lovely early morning breakfast in Deal as we are great fans and wanted to experience the tribute to him. We really enjoyed the breakfast with refillable coffee or tea and very polite and helpful staff who helped operate the drinks machine. There is an outside eating area also. There is plenty of options on parking nearby. The town centre is nearby including the beach which is just a bit further away. A great experience to be repeated.
