Fast service, reasonable prices, good food but pretty mainstream.
Four of us had a carvery for our Christmas get together today (20th December) and the food was of very poor quality. The turkey was slimy and not fit for human consumption. We requested a box so we could take it home for the dog! After complaining to the manager, he was not interested and said no one else had complained so it was only our opinion. Needless to say we will not be returning.
First time here, the Carvery was amazing and the cakes were just out of this world. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Will visit again when next in the Cotswolds.
Food quality is very low. Grilled chicken breasts that we had were the frozen chicken breasts, not properly cooked, not grilled nicely, and absolutely no taste (there was maybe a small pinch of salt, and where are other spices?). Taste is awful. Meats (carvery and the grilled chicken that we ordered) absolutely tasteless. You can't feel the goodness of 14-hours slow cooked meats if you can't feel a good taste - you can imagine a large piece of meat just cooked, but with no spices. Roast vegetables were either defrosted in a microwave brussel sprouts and green beans, or roasted parsnips and potatoes - once roasted, then reheated 100 times so that the skin on them was just too hard to bite, and the inside was cold and watery. The best place here goes to roast carrots - maybe not perfectly roasted, but at least they were cooked (not like brussel sprouts and green beans) and not overdone with roasting like the parsnips and potatoes! This 1 star goes to the staff for being so nice and friendly, and also to carrots and baby potatoes - for being and cooked soft 😂🤣😅 The rest - awful. Avoid at all cost.
As always the welcome was good but not overbearing, the bar staff friendly, the chef at the carvery very pleasant. Food lovely with lots of choice of different veg, potatoes and meet all freshly cooked. Mega sized drink super value. will i come again? you bet? value for money, free parking everything just the right balance. Tom our server was so friendly. Be back soon. Sue & Derek
