Wow, what an amazingly historic stunning hotel and restaurant. The staff are very attentive, and the selection of beers and local alcohol is vast. Lots of food and bar snacks, with great atmosphere throughout the venue. The staff at this hotel, bar or just about the venue, were so lovely, kind, considerate.. special thanks to The lovely manager, Carly, I hope thats right, you took such good care of us, we had room 108 to start with, which was noisy for this light sleeper, no issues finding us a quieter room for the following night, and they popped our bags into the new room while we were out celebrating with family for milestone final treatment. They serve food until quite late, including pudding. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering staying, having a night out, or eating out in Okehampton.
Lovely Marston's pub, I've never had a bad experience in any I've stayed in, the food is good and plentiful and Marston's beer is superb. Only four stars because even though the building is old, I think it was probably a coaching inn, it really could do with a bit of refurbishing.
A pub and a hotel. There are lockers in the backyard garden for your bike, the pub is well organised for taking orders then delivery then at the right table. Loved the breakfast (eggs Benedict my choice). In the evening the cakes have large portions and the beers are really many among them to choose. Next to the hotel there is a city museum...
Well it's a Spoons! I go there for a decent breakfast. The service is always quick and friendly. The only criticism I would make is that many of the tables need clearing. However, there are plenty of tables that are clear and clean so it's not a problem. I realise that the fast friendly service may well be at the expense of keeping up with the business of clearing tables. While it's not ideal, I think a sensible compromise during a tough time is being made as the service genuinely is excellent.
Most of the staff are rude and miserable(surely it doesn't hurt to smile and be polite), you could brew your own pint by the time you get served, the food is never served hot. If you want to find any of the staff, they will be outside smoking and having a gossip. Management need sorting so the place is ran properly.
