The Lounge situated on the Ist floor of The Light is available for hire (e.g. parties, meetings, corporate functions, or presentations). It includes a fully stocked bar, DJ booth, video projector (DVD, PAL, S-VIDEO Compatible) and an adjoining roof terrace. The lounge is available for hire throughout the day all of the week, as well as during the evenings Sunday through Thursday.
(Friday and Saturday evenings the Lounge operates as a cocktail bar with regular D.J.s so it is unfortunately unavailable. If particularly busy, entry may also be restricted).
I have been to this place for a date. Highly recommend it. My favourite place is to sit by the railings on the mezzanine floor. The food menu is limited which I always appreciate and is very good. Overall, the place doesn’t get too noisy so you can sit and have a nice conversation. Fortunately, I have been able to get a table during each visit. Will try and capture pictures during my next one!
I went here last night for my birthday, and the staff were staring at me and my friends the whole time. First of all, the stopped us at the door after I had already emailed that four of us would be under 18. I assumed that wouldn’t be a problem due to their email asking for my booking confirmation. After ten minutes stood in the doorway, we were all allowed in. There was very slow service to our table regarding drinks. At 9pm, two of my 18 year old friends went up to order more drinks, however, we were ‘cut off’ due to being ‘too drunk’. The lady said we had racked up a £500 bill, and that was too much between TWELVE people. None of my friends were drunk, or loud, or messy. At around 9:10pm, a group of rowdy men came in. They were not apprehended once about their behaviour. They also were not subject to the same snarky looks that me and friends had to deal with since we entered. We all felt so uncomfortable, and watched, and couldn’t fully relax. It was my birthday, and instead of having fun, I was on edge the whole night. Wouldn’t recommend to any one under the age of 25.
I recently celebrated my birthday at this restaurant/bar and overall, it was a pleasant experience. My friends and I had the opportunity to dine in the upstairs restaurant, and we were excited to try some of the unique fine dining dishes on the menu. To start, we ordered the roasted oysters and milk buns with caramelized onions and butter. The oysters were cooked to perfection and the milk buns were incredibly flavorful. The combination of the caramelized onions and butter added a delicious richness to the dish. For my main course, I opted for the steak wrapped in riccotios leaves with a grape jus. The steak was cooked to my taste and the riccotios leaves added a unique twist to the dish. The grape jus provided a sweet and tangy flavor that complemented the steak perfectly. It was a truly delicious and satisfying main course. Unfortunately, the waiting staff member who served us lacked enthusiasm and seemed quite serious throughout the evening. It would have been nice to have a more engaging and friendly server to enhance the overall dining experience. After dinner, we decided to head downstairs to the bar area for a few more drinks. The atmosphere downstairs was lively and it was a great place to relax and enjoy the rest of the evening with friends. However, the bar staff were not very efficient and seemed to forget some of our drink orders. This was a bit disappointing and affected the overall experience. Despite these minor setbacks, we still had a pleasant time at this restaurant. The delicious food and lively atmosphere downstairs made up for the lackluster service. I would recommend this place for a casual night out with friends, but be prepared for some inconsistencies in service.
We had a larger event on the 3rd floor! This was a great place for a large event. The food that was passed around was amazing! I would have ordered any one of those dishes in the full sized versions and enjoyed all of them. The staff was very professional and easy to work with. The bartenders were also great and made some delicious cocktails. If your looking for a venue that can hold a good amount of people, you should definitely consider this spot. Perfect for a party, corporate experience, work outing, or even a smaller wedding.
We had a great dinner at The Light Bar, Upstairs. Dee was amazing! She provided geat service and excellent recommendations, especially the Milk Buns and the Pig Heads Foccacia! The chef, (Sorry, didn't catch his name), was also great. He brought some of the plates to the table and told us a bit more about those dishes. We really enjoyed our evening. Thank you Dee and Team!
