About us

We are a fantastic traditional pub located in oldest building in Caerleon, overlooking the river. We are steeped in history with a tower on the side of the building that dates back to 1066 and Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote a poem here in 1856. Inside, old beams enhance the building's traditional look. We have two bars in the open plan area. Our outside area seats 50 and overlooks the River Usk. We hold Cask Marque accreditation meaning that our traditional pub food is well complemented by our real ales! We also have plasma screens for live sport.

Amazing place!! Outstanding service with it. Would definitely recommend it everytime. Lovely menus that are easy to follow, clean table tops after use. Plus a board showing what’s on at The Hanbury Arms.

Doesn't really matter how nice the pub or food is, the fact that you have to pay for parking which is then not refundable unless you specifically get a paper ticket as opposed to using the app advertised leaves a sour taste. At the very least I would have expected it to be prominent on the many signs that suggest using the app that payments via the app are not refundable. Simply a way to generate extra income through dishonesty. Would not visit again.

I am absolutely disgusted with the Banbury arms For adding £4 to my monthly visit with the family in parking charges , I understand why they have done it , but like premier inn they take ur registration number at the bar so that customers didn’t have to pay, All comes down to money grabbing sods, I’ll be eating elsewhere with the family from now on ,,,

Would recommend. Great pub staff brilliant and helpful, plenty of choice for alcoholic/ soft drinks and coffee. Dog friendly and has free biscuits for them. Large food menu with plentry of choice, we had a burger and sausage and mash, the meals very generous ( dog had to share). Everything very clean. Interesting old pictures on the wall. Would go there again when in the area

Great, dog friendly pub. We ordered the starter as a light lunch. I had the Nachos and my wife had the Cheesy Chips. Both meals were lovely and well worth the price. Had chocolate orange sponge cake which was gorgeous. Shelby was friendly. Beautiful view out the window. I would definitely eat there again.
