Since 2005, The Donkey has not only built a reputation as an intimate venue, with a live-wire atmosphere, but for presenting low-key gigs by major name acts.
Both landlord Warren’s legendary bonhomie and promoter Gaz Birtles knowledge of the music business are evident in the care and love shown to all aspects of this independent establishment. It’s an approach that above anything else treats both musicians and customers alike as friends.
Located just outside of the Leicester city centre and close to both of the Universities, the Donkey also boasts a large beer garden and car park, free WiFi and offers a wide range of lagers, bottled beer, wine and real ales as well as fresh ground coffee daily.

Great pub full of gothic and musical charm. Great bands on certain days. Nice outside seating area that has bands playing in the summer.
Great bar to visit before and after gigs at the O2. Great food and drinks , served by friendly bar staff
Fantastic band called Dust & Debris played to a packed house and did two 50 minute sets of blue grass & Americana style music. First time in this small & intimate venue with the band almost in touching distance. Great show, super place.
