About us

Just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the City of London, our spacious and bright function room has big picture windows with views over the dock towards Tower Bridge, the iconic London landmark. In a purpose-built extension to the original Dickens Inn, the room is beautifully finished in a style complementary to its historic setting, and can be laid out to suit any configuration. It is the perfect venue for a wedding party, conference or private function and now has the benefit of upgraded air conditioning throughout the function space.

The Dickens Inn is an original warehouse building near Tower Bridge, Tower of London and the Shard. As an original warehouse building, it's thought to have housed tea or to have been owned by a local brewery. It certainly existed at the turn of the 18th century and may well have been born in the 1700's. During the early years as a pub "The Tavern Bar" used to feature sawdust strewn floors and no bottled or canned beer was stocked. Diners also enjoyed candlelit meals on the balconies; this practice has been phased out due to modern fire safety regulations!.

From the outside, even on a cold dark winters night in January, the Dickens Inn looks idyllic. That’s where the story ends in our opinion.  Being a Saturday evening we expected it to be busy, as was the case but there was no atmosphere, just busy!  The tables were sticky, many not cleared of empty glasses & plates in a reasonable time and we were unable to order food from the app. A couple of the TV’s showing sport keep freezing for long periods and  the place was cold, with radiators not on and no warm welcome from the staff who seemed indifferent. The toilets were something from the 80’s, in such a mess and flooded.  The food, whilst not particularly expensive, wasn’t great quality and on par with  J D Wetherspoons.  Will we return ?  That’s a No from Us.

I have been here a couple of times, I love the location and the feeling of being out of the chaos despite being in London. The staff is warm and friendly. I popped in as a walk in on a Sunday and they gave me a table with a nice view. Great wine selection, the food is fine, maybe I would have appreciated more a less hard roast beef but it is very difficult for me to find it like I prefer.

After a long cold day of touring London on foot, this place was a welcome refuge for my tired and overly chilled family. Ducking into this place for food and warmth, we welcomed the amazingly relaxed atmosphere this restaurant provided. With three levels, the first being the bar and the next two being the dinning floors, this establishment offers a rich relaxing ambience and plenty of seating to enjoy it. The staff is very kind and helpful throughout the meal. The food was good but a little overpriced in my opinion. We ordered the scotch eggs (perfect breading but the eggs were too undercooked for my taste), two burgers (scrumptious), and two chicken schnitzels (breaded chicken with no gravy or sauce but not bad just bland). Don’t get me wrong, the food was good and we devoured it. However, I don’t believe it was 140 quid good, especially when we get cups of ketchup and not the bottle (small pet peeve of mine). Overall, it’s a beautiful and warm environment with good food that’s a little overpriced. Go and taste for yourself.

The Dickens Inn has to be the most romantic place we visited in London. Tucked back behind the docks, at night, it's lit up with flowers everywhere. We walked from our hotel for a drink and found a charming pub that was somehow bustling and quiet at the same time. Tons of space to choose from with a great menu and great drinks, not to mention a lovely view. Honestly, so great.

What's not to love about this pub apart from the prices 😭 such a beautiful place to have a drink. The outside is always so gorgeous with all the hanging baskets and flower displays. It looks the part with its wooden balconies overlooking the marina. Inside the original beams are fab and it's huge, lots of nooks and crannies to discover. Service is good as it's always busy they have lots of staff so never long to wait Great place to visit and perfect for photos
