About us

The Cricketers is steeped in history due to it being one of the oldest pubs in Brighton. There has been a pub on this site since 1547 and the original Landlord, one Derrick Carver was burnt as a martyr for his religious beliefs.

One of our most famous "guests" in the past has been "Jack the Ripper" - and in The Greene Room bar, (upstairs), you can spend some time following the story of his origins and how he planned his murders from this very spot. This is also the famous pub immortalised by Graham Greene in his classic novel "Brighton Rock". at the Cricketers we offer a vast range of Real Ales which we are pleased to keep to Cask Marque standard, as well as a number of popular lagers & ciders. Our wine list is pretty extensive by pub standards, and has been crafted to compliment the food menu whilst offering something for those just in for a drink.

For the non drinking clients we have a large range of soft drinks and we also offer fairtrade coffee from our local supplier Roasted Coffee Co.

One of Brighton's great drinking houses steeped in history. Lovely atmosphere and an eclectic mix of clientele. Comprehensive food menu and good choice of ale.

Visited here on a Sunday afternoon when taking some Japanese friends to visit Brighton. Ordered food and sat outside. When food hadn't arrived after 30 minutes I went to enquire only to be told that orders were taking up to 40 minutes .... I wish I knew that when ordering! When the food did eventually arrive it was okay. Staff seemed to run off their feet and a bit stressed.

It’s my first time visiting The Cricketers since it was refurbished. Personally, I like the old look, there’s character… Although, the new look is modern and spacious. The service is great! It’s quite expensive. We ordered an orange juice, ginger beer, cider and beer; tortilla chips and burgers. There should be an option for the tortilla dip aside from Hummus. Because my friend didn’t really enjoyed the hummus in the end. I’m not a fan of the music selection. I heard that Sunday roast is really good. We will be back for that.

This place, one of the city's most renowned bars, boasts beautiful interior design and an extensive menu. Prices are moderate. Considering the rather high average customer age, it should be chosen accordingly.

The service in here is quick and good. They have a nice selection of drinks and food is amazing. We had a mixup with the food order as we were served someone else food by mistake. It was quickly sorted out though.
