About us

The Cover Bridge Inn, (formerly called the Forresters Arms and previously the Masons Arms), is situated alongside the River Cover, a few hundred yards upstream from the confluence with the River Ure. It was located here, alongside the Ford across the River Ure. The main ancient road from Richmond and the North crossed the River Ure at this point and continued up Coverdale crossing Park Rash Pass to Kettlewell in Wharfedale.

The bar has changed little over the years, with heavy open beams, wooden settles and a roaring log fires. This is the place to enjoy well kept draught ales: Theakston's Best Bitter, Old Peculier, Black Sheep, Timothy Taylors Landlord, guest beers, two real ciders and a gluten-free lager.

On fine days you can take a seat in the large Beer Garden and watch the River Cover flow gently by.

Called in for food as we are staying in the car park in our van. What a gem of a pub, staff ever so friendly, reasonably price drinks (soft & non alcoholic- dry January). And such a great selection of cask ales too. Food was spot on, lasagne & steak pie, and I mean very nice, chips were like chip shop chips. Very busy, think it was the land lady, run off her feet changing kegs, 4 in the hour we were there and all with a smile and whilst checking on the customers. When we are back out this way, we'll be calling back in.

A fantastic pub that hasboth warm, friendly staff and environment. A very traditional feel, friendly patrons and good food. The only downside is the road adjacent with poor visibility for cars and the car park located across from the premises. Not an especially big deal but worth remembering when leaving.

I have been a regular visitor to this Pub since the mid nineties and it has become one of my favourite places to dine. The owners past & present have always delivered a high standard of hospitality and brilliant service. The food is always great value for money. My only suggestion is to add Hunters Chicken to the menu. When the opportunity comes I always recommend the Cover Bridge to visitors to the area.

I was visiting the area and a local gave me nudge about calling at the Cove Bridge Inn. And I new as soon as I walked into the rear garden that this was a hidden treasure as virtually every tale was taken. The beer garden is very picturesque as it nestles on the riverbank beside the bridge. Service was superb and the food was very tasty. I had the mixed Sunday roast and the beef/pork was cooked perfectly. My wife had the fish and chips which looked beautiful and tested as good. They also have a great selection of local ales. Dog friendly too I would definitely recommend 👌

Stayed here for two nights this week. My partner and I have stayed here for many years and numerous times each year. Due to now being alone I wanted to draw on our memories. I was made welcome, given sensitive attention. Accommodation excellent, food, as always outstanding. This is a truly superb pub. Will go back to stay again in the future.
