Searching for somewhere to have a proper Sunday lunch and we came across The buccaneer. What a really pleasant surprise. It was a carvery Sunday lunch with a good choice of meats and vegetables. We both had a sumptuous and hearty meal. Very good value for money, great tasting and very friendly staff. We will definitely be going again when we are next in Filey...I would highly recommend

Called in by chance to see if we could get a Sunday carvery. We were both greeted by friendly staff. I decided to have the small appetite plate which was priced at £7.95. My husband had the regular adult priced at £12.95. However I got mine served on a tea plate. I assumed it would be a normal size with one piece of meat. The variety was really good & food was nice. Just need to change the plate sizes!! The tea plate size for an adult was beyond ridiculous 🙄

We ended up at the Buccaneer as a last resort after failing to pre book somewhere for dinner during peak season...rookie mistake! Our son really needed the toilet and we stumbled across the Buccaneer while wandering the streets of Filey. We were a bit dubious, as from the outside it looked a bit like somewhere that peaked in the 90's with some strange pirate paraphernalia and outdated carpets adorning the entrance. As we were getting hungry and our son really had to "go", we decided what the heck, let's try it! So up the stairs we went. The pub itself is nice and clean, and has a classic pub smell when you go in. My initial thoughts were that it resembled an old working men's club from the late 90's early 2000's. Long bench seats wrapped around the majority of the perimeter with dark wooden tables and chairs to eat at. A pool table and corner bar area finished off the look, with more pirate / sea decoration dotted around. We decided it looked alright, and with Thursday night being steak night, we figured we should be fine. I'm so glad we decided to stay, as the food was excellent! My son had a pepperoni pizza which he says was very meaty and nice (looked pretty good to me but he wasn't sharing!) My wife had a vegetable lasagna which she said is one of the best she's had, and I had the gammon. The portion sizes were massive for the price! The gammon was just the right amount of salty, and it was served with a runny yolk egg cooked to perfection. The onion rings were proper onion rings, not the mushy frozen kind often served in restaurants, and the chips were really good. We were all too stuffed for pudding, but the cake display cabinet had been looking at me the whole time, so we went to investigate. Lucky for us, they do takeaway pudding boxes so we had a big slice of the white chocolate and orange cheesecake for the next day. The beer was very well priced for a seaside town (£4 a pint for most beers) and was delicious! The staff are all very friendly and polite, and the menu even has a vegetarian / vegan section! From what I could gather, this was a place the locals go, and I've always found the locals know best! If anyone is looking for some tasty honest food, you can't go wrong with the Buccaneer! Don't let the decor fool you, the food is delicious, beer fresh and cold, staff friendly, portions big, prices great value, we'll definitely go again when we're back in Filey!

The buccaneer offers hood sized portion food, and friendly service in its restaurant. The food quality is "ok" , but the prices do not reflect the quality. I feel it's overpriced , for a bulk standard sea side pub grub. The restaurant is dated and doesn't have a clean vibe. Understandably it's themed around pirate and the seaside however it could be updated or cleaner.

We visited the Smugglrs Cove which is the restaurant in the Buccaneer Filey for Sunday lunch. We went for the Sunday carvery, meat was a choice from Turkey, Pork, beef and ham, all absolutely delicios lots of choice regarding vegetables roast potatoes etc. One of the best Sunday carveries we have ever had and very reasonably priced, I would recommend you try it
