Visited as a group of 9 to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. Went for a Sunday lunch and were accommodated in a lovely private room with impeccable service and fantastic food. Not my mother's first visit but was mine, will definitely return
A warm welcome, great service and fabulous food. A drive to destination with ample parking and rooms too if you fancy a drink. With function rooms for hire, restaurant for fine dining and a lively bar with live music most weekends. I'm a fan 👍🏼
Would have been a great time with stuffing on the roasts. We’re giving this an overall 7.5 - would have been an 8.5 if it had stuffing. The chicken comes with it, but we couldn’t order a side of it? The waitress wouldn’t even check if we could. Portion size on the Wellington is a bit painful - especially if you’re paying the same price for a meat dish. However, the tarragon cream with it was beautiful. The roast was solid. Perfectly crispy roasties, Yorkshire’s had some super fluff going on, beef was succulent, loved the parsnips business. We were thinking of bumping the score up because of the cheese board, but all the praise goes down to the supplier, Cobblers Nibble. The Camembert is a wild experience! 10/10 for the cheeses. If you get here early enough, you can catch some live jazz as well For a random drop in, after a walk by the canal, we were pleasantly surprised. Four of us ate here on a Sunday lunchtime. The Inn looks good from the outside and is nicely decorated inside. There is car parking around the back, although many people had parked on the road at the front. We had two roast beef dinners and two vegetarian options. All meals were excellent, but it took 40 minutes to be served. The serving staff were all pleasant and polite but were quite often absent. By the time we found someone to ask for more gravy, the meals were almost finished. However, plenty of gravy was brought to the table, and it was hot. We had similar issues in finding staff when we wanted to pay. I'd definitely recommend the place for the quality of the food and the clean interior, with interesting artworks, but expect to be a while.
Just got in from Amsterdam and was really hunger. Been 10 hrs since we ate on the ship. Pizza, soup and meatballs were very good. I’d go back again!! We got there almost as they were closing but he still accommodated us.
