THE SUN AND DOVES, Lambeth

We serve good wholesome homemade food with excellent drink - real ales and a great selection of wines, cocktails and soft drinks, teas and coffees - alongside high quality art exhibitions. We are 'the contemporary local'.

We set out in 1995 to put Camberwell on the map and have been in front doing it ever since. In 1996 we were runner up Time Out Bar of the Year and 1998 Evening Standard's Top Ten London Pubs. We've won loads of awards, for being family, child and dog friendly but there's enough space for singles and groups not to be swamped by them...

We do things FOR people, not just for ourselves. We've been involved with Camberwell, postcode SE5 - the area we're in - at all levels and kick started the regeneration of all the pubs locally and marked the start of a south east London 'scene'. We exhibit art regularly, do great pub quizzes, film nights, occasional live music with Magnificent Sevens where you play your own set of your favourite tunes and Dusted Vinyl for those who only have albums. We specialise in being friendly, efficient and good value. We do weddings, private functions, drinks and buffet parties for groups from ten to two hundred as well as the tough day to day business of serving a wide range of great cocktails, wines, real ales and fruit juices (we squeeze our own citruses) , fair trade coffee and teas as well as a solid down to earth contemporary menu with world wide infuences. We buy locally, recyle as much as we can and were the first pub in London to sign up to Hospitable Climates because we care about our future.
