The best Pub in Rye, by a long shot!

The days, many Pubs are having their souls swept away by new owners - eager to show that the very expensive new broom sweeps the Bar clean of the locals, leaving it free for the tourists and Wedding Parties. If that sounds horribly familiar to you, then The Standard is the perfect antidote. Visitors will find that they have happened upon a convention of eccentricities, fit to rival the best that TV, Radio or Film can provide. Local Brewing is always supported in The Standard - not just the familiar Harvey's Bitter from Lewes, but also such delights as The Old Dairy Brewery and others have to offer. The kitchen produces prodigious portions of prandial perfection, without recourse to catering-supplier's ready-made offerings that grace the menus of so many pubs these days. The place is presided over by Jonathan and Ian, and a happy band of great Staff. There you have it - The Standard, the "boldest" Pub in Rye (it's an in-joke, go in and ask!)
