About us

If a great location is what you’re after, then The Bridge Hotel offers one of the most spectacular in Newcastle. Just two minutes’ walk from Grey Street and the Quayside, and right next door to the Castle Keep and the High Level bridge, you’ll find stunning views of the River Tyne from both the pub and outdoor terrace.

Built on a medieval site, the Bridge Hotel is a traditional venue boasting quiet secluded areas, cosy Victorian snugs, wooden panelling and carved fittings, together with stained glass windows and highly detailed mosaics.

The atmosphere is just as impressive, and the friendly staff offers a true local Tyneside welcome to huge variety of customers who visit the venue for its history, its impressive programme of live entertainment, its outstanding reputation for serving a huge choice of cask ale, and its mouth-watering menus.

The Bridge Hotel has won awards including the Best Bar None Accreditation 2007 & 2008 and is also listed in CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

Best Guinness in Newcastle. Hands down. Visited The Dubliner, Crown Posada, Newcastle Irish Centre and Bridge Tavern. Nothing came close to this. Beautiful. Please contact me for further review. Good atmosphere in the pub too, coat hooks under the bar, winning! Will return soon. I can't stress how good the Guinness was!

Great pub. Lovely building to sit in for some drinks and a good selection of beers available. Well situated to visit between Newcastle and the Railway Quarter of Gateshead.

The Bridge Hotel is a very striking building close by the Castle; it was just a short walk from where we were staying and easy to find. We visited the Bridge Hotel last week to go to the Singers and Musicians Night at the Folk Cub which takes place in an upstairs room. What a great atmosphere when we walked into the pub-it was absolutely buzzing and packed - exactly how you want a pub to be! That said, we were served quickly at the bar; the staff all friendly and attentive. Great choice of beers available together with all the usual non-alcoholic drinks such as J2O. I loved the beautiful stained glass Windows showing what I believe to be local scenes. Well worth a visit if you enjoy a pub with a great atmosphere and good choice of beer; especially recommended if you enjoy Folk music and would like to visit the second oldest Folk Club in the country (Mondays).

A wonderful little find a short distance from the Riverside and Newcastle Central Station. Very busy bar, standing room only for us. Fabulous atmosphere offering a wide range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including some local brews. The toilets are located downstairs. If you like stained glass, do have a look around at the scenes depicting the traditional trade of the area. Directly opposite, you'll find Newcastle Keep and part of the old castle walls, castle well, and the Castle Stairs. I suspect the way to do the stairs is down and not up as we did!!
