Everything you'd expect from a great pub, great value food and a wide range of draught lager, bottled beer, cider and a huge selection of spirits, soft drinks and wines.
Here at The Turnpike you'll find everything you'd expect from a traditional local pub in Broadgreen - but with a bit of added sizzle.
Just a stone's throw from Childwall, Knotty Ash and Wavertree, we're the perfect place to watch the footy with friends or enjoy a bit of banter over your favourite beers. We serve up a fantastic range of drinks with prices to match, together with our famous sizzling skillets or flame-grilled burgers if you fancy a bite with your pint.
The bar staff wasn’t really friendly. They wasn’t rude but didn’t greet you with a smile ! Waited AGES to be served for everything from drinks to ordering food to ordering dessert. Food took an ok time to arrive not ages but not quick either. Smothered chicken was literally SMOTHERED with bbq sauce. Halloumi fries were far too crispy. And they didn’t serve fizzy orange so had to suggest orange cordial and lemonade to bar staff. Pudding was lovely - chocolate brownie with ice cream. Pub was busy and tables situated far too close together - massive table / party right next to me. It felt like I was sitting on their knees!! I couldn’t hear my conversation because they were sat too close.
On behalf of "Cripple table" we'd like to thank the staff for their excellent service from the bar to the table. Straight away they were at ease with an abundance of wheelchairs, walkers and wobblers. The food was excellent, the drinks certainly flowed and the general atmosphere for us was superb. Thank you to each and every staff member who put up with us for over 7 hours! 😆
We arrived on time , there was only 1 member of staff serving at the time ,we didn't have to wait to long to ask for drinks and pre booked table. Food was good ,atmosphere was pleasant due to kids gone back to school. So we could talk and no be interrupted by high pitch noise. Me and my wife were with my mother in law and enjoyed our time there . Our plates etc were taken away by a lovely mannered women ,who we interacted with ,she was very good but we didn't get her name but she was worth mentioning to thank her. All in all it was a pleasant experience thanks again James Taylor.
Sharing this again as I never got an apology for how bad my food was, and also my friend who ordered lasagne which was burnt. I could see straight away my sausages were just frozen ones, and the mashed potato was clearly processed and not fresh. Waited 40 minutes for this plate of food. Just terrible
You know when you step into a pub for a pint and oddly it becomes something more, well this is a place where it happens. Ordered a pint, sat on a table that was reserved for 7pm and it’s only 3pm, thinking well for a pint this had to be popular. Then it happened and I instantly understood why, a sizzling steak was served a couple of tables down, the aroma, smell was so invited, I just had to have one. sizzling Rump 8oz steak, with fries, mushrooms and fried onions and yes I did, I went for the pepper corn sauce, but wait for it, all for less than a Tenner. Expecting something else, I was simply stunned, what a dish, medium rare done to perfection, now this Chef knows what they are doing. Full admiration, chunky chips to add to delight. As one can see demolished the lot with a solid pint of berry cider, could not have asked for anything more. And noticed every table around me was reserved at alternative times. They so know what they are doing, so simply so well done guys, don’t change as you have hit the mark. Loved it 😍 x
