Sorry to say our plates were cold. A good selection of food and veg though. We both had fish dishes in pastry, what would have been nice to have a cheese sauce option as it needed that it was a bit dry. That would also go with gammon.
Popped in for all-you-can-eat breakfast. Very reasonably priced. Food was plentiful and well cooked. Mushrooms slightly over cooked for my tastes but likely down to being on hot plate for a long time. Breakfast Yorkshire pudding and gravy an odd idea too IMHO, but others were tucking in. Help yourself to toast and James too which was a good idea. However no fried bread, gutted! Lots of TVs turned on to news which was a nice touch too. Overall very good, will be back.
Good: Service colleagues are brilliant, very attentive. The food portions are good & the beer tasted great. Improve : this Toby needs a bit of love internally & externally. It doesn’t make for the best experience when sat to eat. The selection of white wine is pretty poor and could do with being reviewed.
The Christmas Dinner experience was awful. We were crushed into a corner the 4 of us. The dessert was lovely but the rest of it was awful. The main Christmas Dinner was barely warm and the Roast potatoes were burnt...I could hardly cut through them. We got the very ends of the meats which were just burnt skin and grizzle. We all left most of the food. There was nothing Festive about the whole experience. It Spoilt our day really. I won't be booking there again.
We stopped at the Toby on a very cold Sunday afternoon for a roast dinner. We received a very warm welcome and despite it being extremely busy the service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was hot, tasty and very well presented ....just what we needed to warm us up on such a cold day. Many thanks everyone!
