The site the Greyhound sits on was originally built as a Yeoman's House in 1540. It became a Manorial Court House with its own cells in 1558. It was extended in 1704 to what you see today.
Today, it is a much loved proper pub with real fires, quality home cooked food, great rotating cask ales, the largest selection of malts from around the world, not forgetting Penkhull Ginstitute!! It is at the centre for village life and the good folk of Penkhull.
Come along and see what all the fuss is about, you’ll be assured of a very warm welcome!.

Haven't visited for a while as last time service was chaotic. This time the service was very good and we enjoyed the food. Nicely cooked and presented. Good real ale. Nice atmosphere as it was acoustic night in the bar.
Booked a 40th meal for my son with 19 of us attending. Alan and his staff did everything to accommodate us.They were very attentive and made sure we had all we needed. The food was perfect and the drinks were flowing . 19 people left extremely full and happy. Thanx again to his team for looking after us.
Open mic night was fantastic. Also, I have had food in here lunchtime previous and they do fantastic pub food. Definitely worth a visit at some point if in the area. It was a little too crowded in the main bar for open mic for such a small area but other than that great pub.
We were visiting relatives in the area and needed a nice pub for lunch where we could bring both of our dogs. I googled and found this. I called at 12pm when they opened and the lady that answered was so friendly and helpful. We went in at 2pm and she sat us at a great table in the corner which gave the dogs space to lay down comfortably and not be in the way. Such a dog friendly pub with the boys getting several treats each and a dog bowl, not to mention lots of cuddles!!!! The food came and we all had different things but we ate everything. The food was absolutely delicious and great value. My partner is Irish and he confirmed that this was the best Guinness he had had in 9 years of visiting this area!!!!! Cannot find fault with anything. The staff, the food, the atmosphere, the drinks and unbelievably dog friendly. I'm sorry I didn't get the lady's name who served us but it was the tall blonde lady, who was fantastic. The roaring fire was so inviting, we had to drag ourselves away. We will most definitely be back .
Lovely dog friendly pub with fantastic real ales and food. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the pub has a lovely village pub atmosphere
