Quaint and old-fashioned, but not over-curated. Interesting menu and well-kept ales. Fewer legal types and less ‘hoorah’ than you might expect, proper nice #50 #36
Centuries old, gorgeous, in the middle of an otherwise quiet strip, and there's a friendly cat that wears a frilly ruff. Totally amazing on these points alone. They're old, but there are some not-very-PC comics in the toilets that mildly offended someone in our group, but not enough to spoil things.
Adres the Barkeep was genuinely warm hearted..."Chicken and Barley Stew will Warm your soul on a day like this," he said. It did indeed. Shared the afternoon with many a new friend in London's "Oldest" Pub. A Must see!!!
Stopped here for a pint and nibbles on a hot sunday afternoon. Was quite busy but we got a table outside it was like going back in time. The beer was good and your salted nuts came in a paper bag just like the good old days.
Absolutely loved this intimate quaint pub! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the pub cat The General made our day! He is a very handsome boy who allowed us to pet him and take his picture. I would def come back here on a future trip to London! When we were closing out our tab, one of the bartenders recommended a nearby free museum. We ended up checking it out and found it really interesting! Something we would not have found out about otherwise.
