The pub looks really nice after the refurbishment. Took a while to get seated as couldn’t decide where to seat us. Service was good and pretty quick. Food was nice and value for money, however was shocked to see we had been charged £14.20 for 4 regular cokes which is £3.55 … comparing to other pubs around the area you can get a small wine for £3.20 and it certainly not £3.55 for a coke …expensive for some post mix and soda!
I have reviewed this recently and gave it a full five stars, however this last visit was very poor. We had booked a table for 3 on arrival no tables were marked reserved. We were shown to a table which was set for 4. We waited a good 10 to 15 minutes before we got a menu and a further 10 before we were asked what we would like to drink, further delay before drinks were served. We had to ask twice to give our food order, when the food arrived the chips and peas were not hot, luke warm at best. We voiced our concerns after the meal. People were coming in without reservations and sitting at unreserved tables then being asked to leave when a "booking" turned up. Easily avoided if reserved table markers used. Apparently shortage of staff, again avoided, limit the bookings. Becca seemed to be the only waitress working we rated her performance as a 5 plus. As did other unhappy customers .
This place is a real hidden gem The outside appeal made my mind up to visit, upon checking the menu online and seeing it was a green king pub I didn't hold out for anything special but boy was I wrong. 2 3 course meals + drinks totaled less than £80. Decor was pleasing to the eye, food was fantastic staff were on point. Can't wait to return and try more delicious dishes
My husband and I were invited for the VIP re-opening of the Rockingham Arms. It has been beautifully decorated throughout The staff worked so hard all day and night to make it very warm and welcoming. We had food with table service, it was very nice. We stayed in the honeymoon suite. It has to be the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on and my husband totally agrees too. The breakfast was amazing. Cant wait to come back. We loved every minute of it.
We visited last night (the first time since the refurbishment)..... and WOW! What an amazing job they have done. Beautifully decorated with a nod to the history of the building and our beautiful village. Several new faces and great friendly service. Hopefully we'll see some local real ales on soon? Perhaps Abbeydale or Chantry Brewery? We wish Gina, Andy and the rest of the team all the very best.
