About us

We are as we state a ‘small family’ business, not a corporate hotel, so please do not expect a corporate hotel experience. We aim to give a homely feel to the place and we are always on hand to help out with any of your needs. Our aim is to offer a more personal service, comfortable accommodation, real ales, tasty food and entertainment you wont forget.

Once belonging to the Arch Bishop of York and rumoured to have once belonged to King Henry VIII, Harefield Hall is nestled amongst 28 acres of woodland in beautiful Nidderdale, North Yorkshire. A 10 minute stroll takes you to the heart of Nidderdale, the bustling market town of Pateley Bridge. Nidderdale boasts many striking features such as Howstean Gorge, Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey, making this area of outstanding natural beauty a must see for any of the visitors to the Dales.

Harefield Hall is the ideal place to get away from it all and relax. Take advantage of our lounge bar with real log fire, reception lounge and hall dining room.

For the more energetic there are endless miles of country walks with spectacular views, cave walks and horse riding. We also offer private fishing on the river Nidd.

We had a lovely stay at Harefield Hall when visiting Harrogate for the weekend. The staff were friendly and efficient and very helpful. We had not planned to eat at the hotel but they managed to fit us in. At first we thought the food was slightly on the pricey side however the portion size was larger than expected. Although not a huge range on the menu we were not disappointed. Our room was larger than expected with a view over nearby countryside. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was heavenly! Although a little tired looking in some places we found our room great value for money. The breakfast the next morning was lovely and set us up for the rest of the day. Although not a huge selection on the continental side it was certainly value for money. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely think about staying here for a second visit.

Beautiful hotel! If I could give it more stars I would. The building is incredible and for an old place, it's been cared for and kept very well. There aren't very many people working here but it's a much better personal service vs a big chain hotel. I'm happy to wait a little longer for service but have my choice of drink remembered! The bed was huge and comfortable. The views are great. Food so good that we chose to eat both nights at the hotel. Breakfast size plentiful. All in all, will be recommending this place to everyone and can't wait to bring my girlfriend back here for our anniversary!

We booked into the hotel last minute and are so pleased we did. Our room was very comfortable with 2 big arm chairs and a table overlooking the garden and a fabulous view of Guys Cliff and the 2 stoops( Yorke’s Folley ) The bathroom was modern with a large walk in waterfall shower. The bed itself was like a football pitch and was very comfortable. When it came to dining we sat in the cozy bar area with a log fire for a couple of real ales, then went to the elegantly set out restaurant for a well priced and delicious 3 course meal made from locally sourced produce. If you wish to visit Nidderdale I would definitely recommend a stay in this hotel or even just stop in for a bite to eat and a bear

I can recommend this hotel highly. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautiful, full of charm with very comfortable rooms, much needed after a big day of walking. I ate dinner in the restaurant both nights as the food was so good. Everything prepared fresh and homemade. If your planning on a trip to this area definitely stay here!!
