About us

As a luxury B&B with 10 en suite bedrooms, fresh home cooked food (much of it homegrown), real ales, a good choice of wines and close to the historic market town of Swaffham, the Bedingfeld Arms is a great dog friendly place to stay and enjoy the attractions of the Brecklands and the National Trust’s Oxburgh Hall which sits directly opposite the garden.

The popular and independent Bedingfeld Arms incorporates the best attributes of a local community pub with the comfort and luxury of a coaching inn (10 bedrooms).

As a freehouse, we are able to offer a hand picked selection of cask ales. Alternative tastes are catered for with a tempting wine list, ciders, a range of freshly ground coffee, exotic teas and original handmade cordials.

The roast was very good. The treacle tart was just okay. The staff were nice but it was all quite slow.

We had a great meal and lovely stay just after Christmas. The staff were great and the breakfast the morning after was amazing too.

Sunday lunch for birthday treat. Choice of food good and lovely flavours, gravy was very thin and portions average. Drinks overpriced. Very disappointing dining room small squashed in on very old furniture. Service was excellent decor old and drab and decorations for Christmas awful no atmosphere

Expect the wrong food, the wrong bill and staff smoking next to you while you eat (even if you ask them not to) Edit (response): I'm surprised you haven't had a chance to review things, since a long email was sent over 2 weeks ago now before posting here. Generally the reviews are on a downward trend and it's understandable. I agree you can't please everyone, but I doubt many would be happy to inhale smoke all meal long from a staff member who sits nearby, fragrantly breaking the regulations, and an apology goes a long way sometimes...

My family and In-Laws came here for a birthday meal, and I must say upon first visit and impressions, I was very pleased. Good Atmosphere and lovely food with good portions. However, although it was a Sunday and was busy, we had to asking the waiting staff to order each time, especially the dessert course, rather than checking up on us every so often.
