Opened in 1677 as The Grecian Coffee House, this historic pub was the favourite haunt of various historical figures, including Sir Isaac Newton, Sir Edmund Halley and Hans Sloane.
Newly reopened in 2019 as an independent pub, we have Guinness, real ales, wines, gins, whiskeys as well as a great soft drinks selection. We also have a weekly quiz, board games, TV screens to show selected matches and a function room for private parties.

A quaint little pub tucked just opposite the royal courts of Justice, the Devereaux is a beautiful quiet pub with a lively atmosphere. It's full of nice tables and little nooks and has amazing pizza's and toasties, with friendly staff especially Tony the Landlord. One of my most favourite pubs in all of London
What a authentic find! An old pub off the alleys of the Strand. Very well-maintained and authentic dark wood. Good selection of drinks and nice friendly service.
A solid little tucked away pub, very friendly staff and pretty chilled atmosphere. Has the old pub smell and decor going on. Only ever eaten pizzas here but they are bang average. But I don't think the punters seem to mind as most people aren't there for food.
Fourth star is mostly for upstairs, an amazing venue I visited as part of a poetry launch. Classic and wooden interior but comfortable. The pub itself - clearly for the local lawyers and sadly prices are as you'd expect. Although there's a very good range of products available to drink. Great service, even in a rush of loads of thirsty poetry people. Saw pizza that looked good but didn't get to try. Brought through a crowd, so an extra nod to great customer service.
A fine member of the pub club around Temple, adding to the vibe and character of the locale with fine beers, both keg and cask. Lovely atmosphere in the pub helped by fast and friendly service at the bar. Apparently, both Sirs Isaac Newton and Edmund Halley regulars, although I suspect Edmund only pops in once every 76 years or so. Neither here during my visit! A simple Toastie menu, cheap but fine for a proper pub. A most enjoyable visit, I recommend.
