Great pub because NO phones and no music blaring out. We go in regularly because of this. You can actually have a conversation and hear what you are saying. No kids causing havoc, all pubs should be child free, so a relaxing time. Unfortunately it's never really busy but I suppose that is because some people can't live without their phones. Spotlessly clean and great staff. I would recommend this pub for a good chat with no kids and phone mad morons.
I work as an IT guy and it's great to get away from electronic devices. I am exposed to many hours per day of multiple screens, communication methods, data and information. This place is good for my health. Never thought I would ever say that about a pub. Also the pints here are well cheap.
My Partner and I were in Swinton just for a change and went in to this pub for an afternoon drink. A real lovely and friendly local. Got talking to the regulars. Julie the landlady was so friendly. No mobiles allowed though but it makes everyone socialise properly. The decor is very traditional and has had a recent refurbishment We will certainly be back. Michele and Freddie Julie..I've had flu so thats why we haven't been in. Hope to see you soon xxx
LOVE LOVE LOVE what this pub is trying to achieve. Digital detox, no phones, no music or TV, cash only and independent brewery drinks. It's a place to relax and socialise properly, not ignore people for nonsense online. Shame so many are hating on it with such bad reviews. Sure, if you want sky sports and Stella on tap it's not for you, but there are a million places like that so go there instead. This place is refreshingly different, a calm oasis with so much character and charm. We had a lovely evening in the lounge room which was really cosy. The whole pub also has local history on display which was really cool to read as we mooched about.
Listen to people call this pub a lot, because of the rules, but if you went and tried a drink and how friendly and welcome it is, you would change your mind, okay phone rules, but if you look round most pubs all ages are on the phone, even text each in the the same company !! No body chats no more . The windmill as good staff and owners, who go out there way to make you feel at home, with beer starting at £2.20 a pint upto £3.40. Its a no brainer, so come in an see what you think. You will be shocked to see its the smartest pub in the area by far.
