Called in here about 5pm. Never been before. Intended to go to Centurian but, for some reason, kitchen closed. Well, Centurian’s loss and the Gatehouse’s gain. Very nice lady served us, Dawn. Very attentive and a good advert for the chain. Barry ordered a mixed grill and I, tentatively, ordered a rump steak on the proviso that “if it was not good, it would go back”. Well, both meals were delicious, my steak was excellent, could not fault it. It would have been a good price but, unfortunately, I had to order a Ned Sauvignon Blanc which pushed the price up a bit. Cannot show photos of our meals cos I forgot😡. BUT, will definitely go back and will remember to add photos of our meal. Cannot understand some morons’ reviews. One said “lovely place and staff” and awarded 1⭐️? Do they not understand how important reviews are to a business. However, as someone who does understand how reviews work and takes great pride in awarding stars fairly, I can definitely recommend here.
No real ale,no Carling lager no ice and no serviettes or plates for bought in very greasy pizza . They are lucky to get one star.
Friendly warm welcome. Sensible prices. Clean and well presented. Good loyalty beer scheme. 🍺
Since the Plough has had new manager it's gone down hill, so decided to go to the Gatehouse instead... its had a total make over and its 10x if not 20x better than the old place. (My new local)
I don't like negative reviews but the beer here was awful, the (very nice) barmaid said it was the first pint of the day but that really shouldn't matter. Nice surroundings, they've done a lovely job of upgrading the decor, but you need a decent pint of ale which they haven't got.
