Most amazing gentleman showed us first to our seats. Only 3 of us however at a table of six which was lovely. Later Lee asked if he could take the adjoining table . It was not a problem and he gave a free desert as he felt bad about taking the table. However he was the most pleasant person I have had the pleasure to meet while out for a meal. He also took the time for a quick chat. Made to feel very welcome and comfortable even though the place was extremely packed. So thank you once again Lee for a great experience Lee you are a credit to the cherry tree in Derby. The nice tall fellow š
Really disappointed tonight, got served by a bearded Indian guy, never seen him before assuming he normally hides out the back. I got one piece of beef and a thinly sliver of Turkey that was it! Worst serving iāve ever had from there. I asked him if thatās it, he said thatās all you get. Having been a regular for quite sometime i know the servings a much more generous. Normally a choice of three, the gammon had pretty much gone so i opted for the turkey and beef, i would have expected three slices as per normal. Iād definitely avoid going up for your carvery if that guys ever serving. Think weāll avoid going in future for a while now, definitely felt short changed. I would have gone to the manager but we were in company and didnāt want to make a scene. If any manager is looking iād avoid letting him serve in future as he acts as if itās his business and is tight with the servings, very disappointed. Heās definitely lacking people skills, they are normally more talkative, iād advise you to not go if that guy is serving in future. IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY: As i explained i was unable to speak with a member of staff as i was in company and didnāt want to cause a scene, you should train them on portion size as a given, and people skills, as neither have ever been a problem before now. If said person was being trained then he should have had the trainee with him to avoid any negatives, you should feel confident in the person being trained before letting them loose on customers Also he was really slow when carving to let you know, basic skills they should possess even at a reasonable level. And also the stuffing is really disappointing dry and clumpy and the parsnips were quite āovercookedā well done/burnt!
Lovely family meal, relatively quiet, but staff were busy being attentive to all customers. Nicely visible. Their onion gravy is lush! Aimee in particular was lovely, had the perfect manner, promptly cleared plates and asked several time if we enjoyed the meal and made light conversation. We visit every few months and best service yet. Carvery was fully stocked too. But it was Aimee who made us feel welcome, Manager in red dress was also very good at her job, keeping things running smoothly.
Went out for food asked for my steak medium it was half well done and half medium so it wasn't the best for my liking the carvery was good for value only issue was the bacon wasn't cooked properly on the sausages just didn't look quiet right burger and chips was good nothing bad to say about that it was yummy :)
Came in as a group of four for some dinner whilst staying in the Ibis hotel over the road. We had starters which included chicken tenders, halloumi and garlic mushrooms. For the mains, three of us had the Fish Shop Supper and one had beef & ale pie. The fish supper was absolutely brilliant! Really large portion and loads of variety too. The scampi was brilliant, although I randomly was given two breaded mushrooms mixed in with my scampi? Lucky I wasnāt allergic! Overall the food was really good and great value too. Only reason for not giving it five stars was just because our waitress was quite sassy and it felt like a bit of a chore for her when we had to ask for cutlery and sauces etc, and it was quite noticeable that she wasnāt really in the mood to be helping us. On the flip side, the lovely manageress (with red hair) was a joy to speak to, and she sent us on our way at the end of the evening in high spirits! Would come again if weāre passing through for sure!
