really really disappointed with this pub. only ever heard good things about the food so we went to try it out. starters were superb my main was superb but my girlfriends was far from it. she had chicken and a 1/4 of the way in she had to stop because for want of a better word it was "squidgy" and pink and still had pink juice running from it. we asked the waitress to sort it for us with this she disappeared in to the kitchen and reappeared 30 seconds later with the same piece of chicken which she had supposedly put back on the griddle and told us in no uncertain terms that it is and was cooked all along. we then cut the breast fully in half and low and behold still pink with pink juice. i took it across to the same waitress and said could she look again and i pressed the chicken with a fork to show her the pink juice flowing i asked her to take it away cause we didnt want to risk it being tried to be cooked a third time. the manager then came across and demanded to know what we want doing with the chicken cause he has just looked at it and in his opinion it was cooked we told him same as we told the waitress that we didnt want it and to dispose of it. by this time i had finished my meal so we finished our drinks and asked for the bill. it was unbelievable that even though we had complained and sent it back twice after only eating a 1/4 he had charged full price for the chicken. i said i wasnt happy with this and basically his response was "tuff" he then claimed that we had eaten 80% of it so he went in his pocket and pulled out a little loose change and offered to give me £2 back as he thought that was the proportion of food uneaten. i asked for his name and whether they were owned by a chain he said yes Enterprise Inns i asked him to write the name and address down for me so i could complain formally so he wrote down his name. i asked yet again for enterprise inns name and address so he wrote down "enterprise" no address i asked yet again for address again his exact words were "dont know it look on internet. now goodbye" i have never met such a rude man in all my life. i went across to a local pub still reeling in amazement of how we had been treated and a couple of the locals overheard me recounting this to a friend and told us that he has a reputation for it in the area. if you want to go somewhere and pay for two meals but only be able to eat one and be spoken to by possibly the worlds rudest manager and be shown absolutely no respect as a paying customer then this is the place to go. very very very shocked disgusted and appalled i would recommend you avoid at all cost
great place, friendly, good food
visited recently for lunch with friends, admittedly it was quiet when we arrived, though it filled up through the course of our meal. I understand it is always busy during the evenings.
the food is all about good quality traditional fare, though the menu is larger than you might imagine with this description. well priced, well cooked, and very friendly service.
we will be revisiting again soon...
