Lovely fresh food, good sized portions, very reasonable price. Loved the genuine old features and atmosphere, lovely hosts - thoroughly enjoyable evening. All 6 of us enjoyed our food and will be returning.
What an excellent little pub. First time our group of 10 met for our regular Sunday lunch. It was superb and such good value. The roast was just as a Sunday roast should be and such generous portions some of us could not finish it probably because we also wanted dessert which was just as good. Nothing was too much for the staff. Service was quick and friendly. We shall certainly be back.
The staff was super friendly and accommodating to our big group booking. The food was amazing! Definitely in the top 3 restaurant meals I've had this year. Home made chips was a pleasant surprise, alot better than frozen ones 99% of restaurants serve now days. We will definitely be booking again!
Can't rate this lovely place enough, excellent food, didn't wait long, all home made absolutely stunning, 6 stars all the way x
First time visit. The menu is excellent, plenty of variety and options to tempt you. We tried the tapas sharing platter, with English and French cheeses, Italian olives and a variety of cold meats. The cheeses were excellent but not what you might expect for tapas. The few small slices of French stick quite inadequate. The haystacks burger which is as big as it sounds could be recommended to a big eater. The homemade patties were a little dry and slightly overcooked. The chips were average at best but the real problem was the sheer volume of oil in the meal, enough to upset your stomach. I'd advise avoiding unless you are a big fast food fan. The gumbo looked very interesting on the menu so tried that. Plenty of chicken but only 2 prawns, the taste was good although again cooked with too much oil, the type of chicken pieces perhaps a contribution to this. Other than the food which we wouldn't rush to try again the decor is a little confused and dated in places. The staff although friendly were a little perplexed by customers wishing to be seated indoors (due to covid restrictions) but given it rained and was not a hot day this surely was to be expected. Overall slightly below average though decent sized portions was a distinct plus.
