London's worst kept secret and first speakeasy, hidden somewhere on Sloane Avenue
Step back in time to the 1929 prohibition-era, as you enter the apartment-turned-speakeasy of the prolific Chicago gangster ‘Uncle Barts’! A bygone era of debauchery, glamour and hedonism, the speakeasy spirit is immortalised here. Barts is a London epicentre for unique cocktails and quenchers of the highest quality.
Barts is a quirky ‘speakeasy’ style bar on prestigious Sloane Avenue in the heart of Chelsea. To find this secret bar you have to walk through a large 1930s apartment building until you come to an imposing black door with a lantern and inconspicuous sign. The venue has been designed in stark contrast to the building and the surrounding area. The walls are packed with an eccentric range of quirky and antique ornaments. There is also a charming Cuban themed Havana Garden, which is particularly popular throughout the summer months.
The venue is brought to life through an eclectic mix of ‘prohibition-era’ music and by a fancy dress box, which is an old fashioned trunk filled with a vast array of wigs, costumes and hats. There is a delicious and extensive range of cocktails, bar snacks and canapés available including the famous ‘Barts Tea’ served in vintage teapots.

What a gem of a place ! First time visit was just incredible, beautiful venue, the best cocktails and staff on point with service and knowledge! Big thank you for Darien that made our stay memorable for all the right reasons. Must visit!
The perfect hidden spot and very fun and hospitable staff. The manager is even greater and creates connection with all his clients. This trio of bar, diner and club is always packed once the doors are opened. Security detail for safety and comfort and I'd recommend this to anyone who visits London looking for a fun night out.
Sebastian was amazing! Very attentive, well versed in the drinks menu and history of the venue. The decor is great and we had the best time, will certainly be back! Roughly £100 for 6 cocktails but they were great.
My favorite speakeasy in London. Great drinks, great service, and a wonderful little outdoor seating area. Very interesting and unique cocktails that are worth the price. Menu is fantastic and comes with a mini history lesson. Book ahead online and your secret password to get inside will be at the bottom of your email!
